Interview with Sindy Eugene
Global
Youth Empowerment Movement
I met
Sindy over a year ago. We both had
vendor tables at a mastermind event.
After setting up my little table, I did my usual round of visiting with
the other vendors. I chatted with her
for a few. She spoke of her youth
program which led me to tell her about my kids and how I have prepared now for
their future. I remember her words …
“You are doing a good job mom”. As you
read on, I hope you can see the value that her services can have in our youth –
our future!
What is the name of your business?
Global Youth Empowerment Movement,
Inc. which includes My V.O.I.C.E Matters International

participants as they strengthen their today while securing their tomorrow. Our
resources will positively impact their lives academically, socially, developmentally
and spiritually. Our services are designed to meet those needs while enabling
us to add value and support them as they transition to becoming future leaders
in our community.
When did your business start?
This is our fifth calendar year
(July of 2010).
Where is your business located?
We are located in Miami, Florida
What territory does your business serve?
Our services are now both in the US
and International.
International baby!!!!!
Who does your business serve?
We serve families, parents,
children, churches entities, for-profit, non-profit, educational entities and
local programs.

How else can you believe in it or see how it really works or what
improvements could be made?
Who is in your support system?
My family and my inner circle of
confidants.
I like that word Lady Sindy! CONFIDANT.
How did you get bitten by the
entrepreneurial bug?
Having the desire to increase my
impact outside the realms of corporate job.
Although, we did a lot, I knew there was more that my passion and
purpose required of me.
My Comment
What is your biggest success up until now?
Increasing our partnership
organizations by 5% and participants to over 15% within our first five years in
existence.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting participants to take
advantage of resources we connect them to consistently.
Any funny stories you want to share so
other ladies don't feel like it only happens to them?
Of course. There was a time when speaking with a group
of students I accidently used the wrong term the wrong way. It was a term such as “fleek” or “shotout”
and they fell out laughing. You see, you
must be relatable to the audience you are speaking to or demographic you are
serving. Sometimes you might have
bloopers that lighten up the atmosphere.
Hahaha! If that is
the case I will endear myself to all I come in contact with!! Thank you Sindy for bringing this new
perspective to my bloopers.
If you were on an island and could only
bring three things, what would you bring?
I would bring my pillow, toilet
tissue, and deodorant.
First person to say TP!
Smart girl because leaves can be rough!
If money was no object, what would you do
all day?
Travel doing missions trip around
the world to teach children that being a Christian can be fun and fulfilling
journey.
Love Sindy’s global vision.
What is your favorite thing about humanity?
The ability to tap into our inner
creativity and create new and exciting things.
You're a new addition to the crayon box,
what color would you be and why?
I would be the color Sindy which is
a cross between blue (trust), orange (fun) and green (life).
Love the color descriptions.
If there was a movie produced about your
life, who would play you and why?
I would choose Cecily Tyson because
she is a dynamic actress who always play a role of importance, character,
family values and wisdom.
Wow! Cecily Tyson
always plays such amazing characters!
Where do you most want to travel, but have
never been?
Egypt to see a part of history in
real life!!! To really see the pyramids, statues are very intriguing to me.
If you could be a superhero, what power
would you possess?
The power to save and erase ALL
children who were or are being sexually assaulted or raped. I would save them and heal their hearts, mind
and body from traumatic experience.
Pepsi or Coke?
Sadly Coke.
If you could sing one song on American
Idol, what would it be? Why that song?
Promise by Y’anna Crawely
Beautiful lyrics!
Take the time NOW to listen.
What about being an entrepreneur do you
love?
Being free to operate in my fullest
capacity in a way that I know is needed for the population of people I serve.
What is your why?
Broken homes, misplaced family
identities, and children without a sense of hope!!!!
Reading this makes me thankful that I am trying to
provide stability to my own children and it is a reminder that not all children
have the same.
What value does your business bring to your
life?
It fuels my passion to stay
innovative, ignites my desire to dream big and my tenacity to be a better
version of me than I was the day before.
Loving her word – TENACITY!
How do you track your appointments &
to-do's?
My GOD a CALENDAR!!!!! I am soooo
old school that I must have a hand held calendar because an electronic one is
not going to cut it!!!!
A fellow paper planner addict! Yessssss.
What is your favorite gadget or app that
others entrepreneurs might want to check out?
My favorite gadget is my iPad because
it allows me to be effective and impactful in and out of the office. I am able to do almost everything on there
and that is awesome!!!
What social media forum has been most
successful for your business?
Both Facebook and Instagram.
What is your best time management tip?
Never leave what you can do today
for tomorrow because you never know the curve balls that await you the next
day.
This is a GREAT perspective!!!
What are the biggest time wasters we
entrepreneurs get caught up in?
Social media. It is best to higher or bring on an intern
that does that only. Or automate EVERYTHING!!!!
How do you continue to meet new clients?
Through networking events,
referrals and through testimonials of previous or current clients.
Any tips you'd like to share about
networking?
Be intentional when
networking. Do not just go and collect
cards. Have an idea, purpose, intent for
going and expectation. If attending the
event, does not fit into the overall objective for you that particular quarter,
than do not go. Strategy is key!!!
BE INTENTIONAL!
Sindy’s words once again are ideal!
Any special messages you'd like to share with
MY TRIBE?
No matter what tribe you are in,
always remember to be you. You are the
brand and you are an individual!!!!
